educating tina

Week three tidied up and put away at OSE. This was the one where my pocket account got a bit full with all of the new names, that everybody else seems to know about and I just kind of spluttered along like some wanky old fucker. I should temper my personal irritation with the fact, at the end of the day, I’ve seen the most dawns and dusks, so I’m the winner. I know I should be writing all kinds of reflective balix about how I am growing as an artist or something like that, but I just don’t have …

Blood test

I am B42 in the blood queue and when I got here the current number was 94. I am waiting in Homerton which is not my favourite place. Today the smell is that  smell the one I remember from father’s cousin when she was comotose and on the way out. I am sick of hospitals. I will be getting a lot sicker pretty soon, or not, depending on the outcome of mother’s hip operation which was scheduled for 31st of January but got bumped.  My brother scared me by telling me that some hospitals use it as a culling tool, weed …

Back to school

Well that is my first week at open school east. We are quite a diverse group and I already feel as if I have had to rearrange some of my attitudes and opinions. Two of the other students are French and one is about as brown as me. We had a brief chat about people responding to our colour, especially in the art world. So …

60 Minutes at work

I would be lying if I said I love my job.  I certainly do not.  I love the idea of my job and it is probably this that has kept me banging my head against the wall for almost 16 years because the institutions I work for certainly haven’t covered themselves in glory when it comes to actually using my skills, experience or education.  I used to be called a Learning Technologist, even for a period of time a Senior Learning Technologist, these days I am an Academic Developer, but in truth I am a check box that universities like …

Art School

I am starting at Open School East on Thursday 8th January.  I’m kind of daunted and excited by the whole thing.  I’m most worried about being so much older than everybody else, including all the tutors, but also about my lack of basic artschool.  I should be ok though. I have set upon a project about gentrification, though I am pretty sure the system is awash with this kind of thing.  Nevertheless, I am personally interested in the changes that have been happening around where I live and I am even more interested in the lives of the people who …
