Residency in Estonia

Residency at the printing museum in Tartu. April 2014.

This was an opportunity to just make art for four weeks.  It was initially a daunting prospect, but I enjoyed the freedom to make and to think about work in a different way.  I enjoyed being in a place I didn’t really understand and knew little about.  I know it sounds corny, but the light was amazing, incredibly sharp but also quite weak for making sun prints.  I was lucky as this was one of the warmest springs they had on record despite it starting very cold indeed.  I visited the beautiful island of Saareema and also Tallinn.  But most of the time was spent in Tartu.
