I’m transracially adopted. I probably don’t look like you or anybody you know. I don’t look like anybody I know. People ask about where I am from quite often, when invited to guess, it says a lot about them and where they are from. I had no control over the wild things people imposed on me because they often had as little thought as an obviously empty suitcase prop in a film or theatre performance. I retreated from being photographed as a way of controlling how I’m seen. This project is about being present in images doing the two things that matter most to me, photographs and drawing.
